Growing up, we spent countless days alongside mom and grandma, hands in the soil, surrounded by rows of fresh vegetables, fruit trees, and herbs. There was nothing quite like it—sun-ripened tomatoes, crisp cucumbers, zucchinis that seemed to grow overnight, raspberry bushes, blackberries, grapes, peach trees, and apple trees. We gathered in the kitchen, turning what we grew into something lasting—canned vegetables, pickles, homemade pasta sauces, jams, and jellies. We learned to make kimchi, dandelion tea, and even dandelion wine. These weren’t just skills—they were moments of connection, laughter, and learning that became lifelong memories. Those traditions were passed down to the next generation. Our children grew up in that same rhythm—learning to garden, cook, preserve, and appreciate the beauty of creating something with their own hands.
